My fellow Bionicle fans remember Matoro. The Toa Inika of Ice who sacrificed himself to save the Mask of Life, and the Great Spirit, Mata Nui. His body, converted to pure energy. But before this, many forget, he sacrificed himself once before, viewing himself as a simple translator and not a real Toa, when they approached a challenge that demanded one of them be sacrificed, he volunteered. Temporarily dying, he was quickly brought back to life, unknowingly proved himself to the Mask of Life as its chosen guardian. And with his final death, he could not be revived on the "Red Star".

Mataro did what had to be done, without his life everyone in the Matoran universe would be lost, Mata Nui would never be able to save the very things he cared for the most, his people and his duty. Even if Teridax screwed things up by stealing Mata Nui's body the true Unity, Duty, and indeed for Mata Nui Destiny was done, Sphereus Magna is a lush world that hopefully will never experience the threat of Protodermise again.
Without everything would have remained separate, without purpose, unilluminated. Mataro there was a reason you had a name so close to your very race, you were a light in the darkness and a sun that never truly extinguished.
When all you need to keep is strong, move along move along like I know you do. Even when your hope is gone, move along move along just to make it through!

Thank you very much. Too many heros have to face such a fate, far too few would step up and take it. Mataro may be dead but he still yet lives, he lives on in whatever spirit world the Bionicle connects to, and he is absolutely in the equivalent to Heaven.

Don't really know Bionicle all that well but this has inspired me to make a pic featuring three of them. Might even include them into My stories if I can just get off my lazy butt and read more into their lore. XD

There's a lot to the lore. Like... a lot. XD Honestly I learned the rest of the story around the time the toy line ended, because I didn't collect every single novel or every single comic, so there was a LOT of wiki reading I had to do. But what I loved was that even if you didn't know 100% of the story, you could still follow the bare bones the commercials and all gave us, as well as the 4 CG movies that were made.
