Here it is, the vector I spent 8hours + working on itall done with photoshop-lasso tool only and fill.
about 70 layers
This is taken from one of the best movie from this century (in my eyes) that's why i dedicated a vector to it. I cant deny i love the attitude of the guy in this picture it s simply creepy hehe

I'm sorry, but I can't help but think that this was done with the LiveTrace feature of Illustrator CS2+... the contours and the "broken" shapes of the elements are normally a dead giveaway.
Would take anyone about 10 seconds to do that.

I basically isolate the tones in the picture and work my way with it. That one was about 20 layers, believe it or not.
I guess there's always the way you mentioned, but I believe mine makes better results because I make some mistake and it's what makes it so unique.
