The only way you can really get rid of the white outline is with the eraser tool in whatever program you use. It isn't fun, but you haven't got that much of it.

you could select the empty space, then invert the selection and feather the edges...
Though this does tend to leave the edges slightly blurred if you do it with too large of a feather.

As for the white outlines... if they're on a layer, maybe select all of the layered bit, then invert and expand the selection... and cut it. Maybe? *cough* I dunno. :/
