Curiosity, I guess. Started messin' around with the pen tool, and it all started from there. It does look awesome, more so if you could develop your own unique style. Check out some works from *novenarik , *verucasalt82 , and *mftalon for inspiration.

I know what you mean. Had a hard time determining how to go about the shadows. Even changed the position of the left hand, and some parts of the hair. She was originally leaning on a rock face.

Oh right. I had assumed you were using illustrator. If the original work is a vector, all you have to do is just resize the image to wallpaper dimensions, and have her stand on one side. Too easy. You don't really need a particularly slick bg as your illustration is good enough to stand as is.
