F L E M E T HCasting an evil spell
A shot of (most of) my Flemeth costume from Dragon Age II. I am very pleased at how the costume came out. I began the process the day I played the DAII demo; I was unsure of what costume to make before then... until I saw Flemeth walk onto the screen.
This costume was a challenge, but it was also incredibly fun. It was a great creative "wake up" for the beginning of the year.

You really captured Flemeth's character in a nutshell: Misleadingly On-topic, Cryptically focused, Evil with good intentions, Good with evil intentions, something feared, someone worshipped, something far above nobility, and ... Xenaverse armour!
I describe Flemeth as "The Eternal Paradox" and you've really gone all out to pull that off in this photo, dahling.

Thank you, dahlink! I must say that the pose was shot under 's direction; she noticed that I was making the same faces and told me to rev it up a notch by looking like I was casting an evil spell. XD We collaborated with these shoots. 
I feel the same way about Flemeth, too! I was under the impression that she was evil in Dragon Age: Origins after discovering how she uses her "daughters." After playing the beginning of DAII, I'm not so sure. All I know now is that she is a mystery and I love her. XD I especially agreed with you when you when you remarked that she is, "Evil with good intentions, Good with evil intentions." I thought that was a perfect description of her character.

OMG, I SAW!! I was like, "Reeeeally?" Honestly, I never thought that would happen; I feel like Ginger and I, with our costumes and little point-and-shoot bridge camera, are more like cosplay underdogs. It's an amazing surprise to have seen this picture on the front page! What an honor!

What did you attach it with? Thread, tape, glue, what?
I'm not into making elaborate costumes -- my procedure is generally to find stuff at second-hand stores that's the same colour as what the character wears and kinda-sorta-maybe looks like their actual costume -- but it's always nice increasing my mental library, and I find uses for random tidbits in the weirdest of places.

I attached it with thick elastics (the type you would use for an elastic waistband) which were sewn into the armor. The armor was backed with painted poster board so that the stitches wouldn't rip into the foam rubber.

Elastic eh? That... would actually make quite a lot of sense, and I never considered it before.

I use elastics because they're easy and fast to apply (I attached them with some button stitches on my sewing machine.) To be more "authentic," you could also use leather laces and belts to attach the armor. (I learned from working as an intern at a high-end costume shop that sometimes, some non-authentic shortcuts are just what a costume needs to be completed on time.)
