I love the colours and outfits, and how well-drawn this is in general, especially the eyes, as they just so bright and shining. However, this would only be a good piece if it is the girl protecting the boy. The way it is now is your typical, boring, too-many-times-done "chauvinistic, chivalrous macho man patronizes a girl or woman by treating her as a helpless child, also called 'protecting' a girl or woman" and, "Cowardly, pathetic, immature girl, rather than realize she is equal to men and fight for herself or investigate a noise with him or by herself, acts like a pathetic, weak little child, undeserving of the title 'woman', by clinging to someone male or telling them to investigate a potential threat, therefore allowing them to be a chauvinistic, chauvanistic, archaic, patronizing prick."
I'm sorry, but this is my honest opinion. And no, their sizes and personalities do not matter (and they are generic and uninteresting as well). The above stated things are the only reasons things like this would happen, especially in the modern day. And the people who like stories or images like this are just as bad as the actions depicted.
I suspect you will hide this comment? I'm not trying to be patronizing here, but because I worry that the person will be offended by anything negative I write on their work, no matter how insignificant I am.
