Wtf are these comments, they're just repeating the same arguments I've seen around that can easily be argued or talking about entirely different things.
Anyways, ifkr. The first planet she is given, she decided she wanted to protect compared to the other tyrants who have taken many planets to colonise already. That's leagues better than the other Diamonds. She also seems to be against shattering, unlike the other Diamonds. Hell, even other gems. Bismuth's suggestion, for example. She didn't need to do that to 'em. It seems that she didn't know a better way of dealing with her problems beyond the cruelty of being a Diamond from her upbringing and so she ran away from her problems in various ways like this. That doesn't excuse her actions at all, it simply makes the motive understandable.
When you consider what it was like being Pink Diamond, she had already gone through the process of trying to be a better person as Rose Quartz, through attempting to understand the perspective of organic lifeforms that were already present on the planet and giving herself up to have Steven as their son. Which is way more than the current Diamonds are doing, as they are simply following Steven because he is all that's left of Pink Diamond. They are seemingly not personally invested in being nice like Pink was. Maybe they enjoy being nice somewhat, but even if that is the case, that doesn't seem to be their main focus and they could just as easily ignore that inclination.
If Steven died, they could easily return to who they used to be. Whereas Rose Quartz was invested, which is apparent through her self-teaching how to be a better person. Yes, while the outcome of most of what she did to maintain her place as Rose Quartz ended terribly, half of the results could not have been predicted at the time. Seriously, who thought Spinel would have to wait for 6000 years because the other Diamonds happened to decide to not collect Pink's things after she died? They cared so much for Pink that they focused on vengeance and not much else. Even that is likely partially based on their self-righteousness as offended Diamonds, instead of it truly being because they knew Pink enough to care for her, like most of their interactions as she grew up.
In fact, that is why she became Rose Quartz in the first place! They didn't truly care about her, only in-so-far as she was a Diamond like them and she kept them unique company. Of course Rose Quartz never thought to return to the garden to pick Spinel up. She likely thought that they would have collected Spinel by now, along with her other things.

Yep. It's ironic. Steven Universe as a show promotes empathy and the fandom is the exact opposite.
I thankfully don't interact directly with fandoms often, so I tend to avoid a lot of shit and manage to maintain interest. There's always a few who ruin the experience for the rest and I've kind of gotten used to predicting that that'll happen in groups, regardless of what the group is based around.

Yeah, I've purposefully avoided Amino because it looks like an attention whore of a platform and is likely where all the bad exists along with the good. As for Facebook, in my case, I never did use it for anything besides reposting memes and so I removed it. 👍

It's not that it's bad to talk about Pink Diamond/Rose Quartz, it's that the perspective on her bad actions is not being applied in a way that is equivalent to all of the other characters and the bad that they've done as individuals as well, mainly because some of them (like the other Diamonds) have done far worse than her and/or are currently not trying to improve for the right reasons in what they do (AKA, have yet to redeem themselves and actually understand WHY Steven wants them to change). Now that Rose Quartz is dead and her skeletons continue to come out of the closet, everybody hates her. The fact is, she was always terrible. However, the amount of hate I've seen toward her character after Spinel's arrival, AKA the fandom's recent fav waifu, is over the top considering the other Diamonds that are still alive and have yet to recognise their impact in comparison to Rose Quartz who at least made a conscious effort to change and was aware that what they did as an authority/family was wrong. Idk. I suppose the hate towards someone who tried to change and failed is stronger than those who haven't tried because of the glaring contradiction it represents. Mind you, I don't particularly like Pink Diamond myself and she reminds me of individuals who think they are free of narcissism after they escaped their even more narcissistic household as a kid, not healing themselves and completely ceasing their continuation of the cycle. In this case, Rose Quartz is still a flawed individual who has hurt and betrayed many gems during her life.

I think the amount of hate she has gotten is because up until the movie, you could justify the other things she did.

The fact she was a diamond: Kinda obvious considering the other crystal gems’ opinions on Pink Diamond were.
Where as there isn’t really a good explanation why she just left Spinel, or at least there is no justifiable explanation for it.

I don’t know, maybe people like the other diamonds cause they they’re at least trying to be better, where as Pink manipulated a gem who saw her as a friend to stay in the same spot for 6000 YEARS! It’s the equivalent of taking her cherished childhood pet out in the woods, telling it to fetch a stick, and then driving off. And Pink never once, in the 6000 years ever thought of going back and getting Spinel. She was just “Welp, that bitch ain’t my problem anymore, so let me now keep secrets from every other gem that considered me a friend. It’s not like if I ever have a son, the consequences of all my actions will fall on top of him, right?”
What I’m saying is, Pink ain’t innocent in this. She has arguably done crueler things than the other Diamonds.

Her "legs" spaceship would get the attention from all homeworld.
Since watching the episode that Steven and Lars go to Homeworld we can clearly see that they have good security for ships in homeworld. Please watch the cartoon again and then rethink your toxic ways.
Also the walls. The fucking walls on homeworld are ALIVE. Blue's haircomb is ALIVE.
Pink was just being a diamond like the others, treating living beings like objects. Spinel was like Blue's haircomb, or the walls, a toy.
That's why this fandom is messed up, because of people like you, who thinks that pays attention but you only pay attention to the big things, not to the small details.
Paying attention to details also makes writing better, as a tip for you

I still think dA comments should be about the art not about opinions. You are an artist too and you know how hard it is to get any attention for the artwork itself. So when people come to just make arguments on the art, and don't even pay attention to it, it's just bad for the artist.
