Not to inflate this description into a long winded essay on medieval armor I will limit myself to two points.

(1). A longsword is NOT-IN-THE-LEAST effective against (summoned daedric!) plate armor of the mythic dawn. That's why I am giving Baurus a buckler and a glass rondel dagger .This armor piercing short-blade has round hand guard and pommel (thus the name) and often is triangular in cross-section. Dagger-and-buckler fighting was an essential part of armored combat in the late medieval period. Abundance of exotic "elder scrolls" materials like ebony, glass, chitin and amber makes this history-tried weapon that much more viable. This may sound as pedantry to some but the life of Uriel Septim might've been saved if his bodyguards had been adequately equipped.
(2). Metallic armor pieces are riveted to an underlying leather harness, but also fastened with belts and cords. Note a large yellow boss in the shape of a head. Not only is it an integral part of the armor corslet but also a multi-directional belt buckle of sorts (there is an identical one on the back).Various cords can go through it's maw, eyes, nostrils and other holes to be tied with each other diametrically, in shoe-lace fashion or secured individually (with a knot). This boss-buckle is how different additional equipment (armor mantle or gorget, a scabbard and even fire\ frost spewing amulets) is kept fixed in place. It is supposed to depict a Tsaesci but considering how notoriously taciturn imperial resources are when describing snake people of Akavir, it might as well be a depiction of a pug or something as goofy (see medieval European depictions of animals to understand what hind or visual aberrations can be produced with lack of information).
