Awe, thank you! I try to diversify what forces I use to make the Battle for Earth seem more united, but Alliance soldiers are featured in my pieces "The Reapers will show us no mercy" and "Never before have so many come together", along with an N7 operative in "Never before have we faced an enemy such as this"!

More light should be on the trooper, since you muzzleflash is so big.
Also, M8 has a purple-bluish muzzleflash with a really rigid shape. It ain't our usual projectile weapon, remember?
The only weapon which I think has something close to a red or orange muzzleflash is M-76 Revenant (machinegun)

[link] Huh, that's awfully weird. The red guy's Mattock is firing, like you said, purple-bluish. But Cerberus' Mattock is the classic orange. [link] Also yeah, more purple-bluish.
This was really just an experiment. Thanks for the help on the lighting, as I wouldn't have fixed that without notice of it on contrast to the trooper himself. Thaaankies! : D

I think Bioware just gave blue (paragon) to the good guys and red to the bad guys (all Reaper forces fire red rounds).
So it would, perhaps, make sence if you had a Cerberus storm trooper with a orange muzzleflash, but here it's an Alliance dude.
