It was a warmer day, Milo and Marcus presumably had made up after their previous argument and decided to accompany Pirate in his pasture. Marcus, of course, was reluctant but was more convinced when Milo suggested he should bring Peanut along. Milo made sure to pack up some snacks as well since he and Marcus agreed to have more of a relaxing day with Pirate. The three made their way up to Pirate's pasture, where the stallion could be seen sticking closer to shady areas.

"After you," Milo opened up the gate, gesturing for Marcus to go inside.

"..thanks," Marcus said subtly, gently leading Peanut in.

Pirate snorted at a little bird in one of the trees, perking his ears up curiously before the bird flew off.

"Trying to catch birds now, Pirate?" Milo asked, tilting his head.

Pirate flinched momentarily, surprised by the sudden interaction. He quickly turned, gently sniffing Milo's head before snorting again, further focusing onto Peanut.

"This'll be their first time being in the same fields, no?" Marcus questioned before reaching up and taking Peanut's halter off.

Peanut let out a playful whinny, approaching Pirate with caution.

Pirate watched him calmly, letting out a deep sigh before walking around while Peanut followed happily.

"They seem to be doing well," Milo watched them closely before sitting down in the grass underneath the shady trees. "Come, now," He pat a spot in the grass next to him gently for Marcus to sit.

"Ugh.. the grass will-"

"It's just grass, you have a washing machine for a reason," Milo chuckled faintly, his tail flicking.

"Fine.." Marcus sighed before hesitantly sitting next to him.

Marcus was about to speak before Milo interrupted. "Sandwich?" He shoved a small sandwich in Marcus' face, followed by Marcus grabbing it nervously.

——

Without realizing it, the two had been talking for quite some time while Peanut and Pirate wandered around. Marcus had checked his phone to see the time, slightly shocked that he and Milo had talked for so long.

"No wonder, I can feel the evening breeze picking up," Milo sneaked a peak at Marcus' phone. "Maybe we should do some work with Pirate now that the heats gone down?" He asked curiously, trying his best not to sound pushy.

"Hmm.." Marcus turned his phone off and set it in his pocket, contemplating. "I wanted to get home early, but.. why not, I suppose," The faint smile that had appeared on his face disappearing almost as quickly as it had appeared. "I'll go get Peanut."

"Mm," Milo nodded, gathering up his things before gently whistling, a voice cue he had taught Pirate.

Pirate huffed, glancing over at Milo before walking over.

"Haha! Good boy," He hummed, scratching his cheek gently before following behind Peanut and Marcus.

"That.. is pretty neat, I suppose," Marcus glanced back at Milo for a moment.

"It's all Pirate, really," Milo nodded. "I've only done a bit of work with him but he's surprisingly obedient at times considering he used to be a lead stallion."

"He must like those treats," He hummed, opening up the gate.

"Yeah? Milo smiled faintly as his ears perked up, grabbing Pirate’s new halter that was attached to the gate and slipping it over his head once he lowered it. "Should we just stick to flatwork for today? Like ground poles and stuff."

"Might be best, it is cooler out but we shouldn't push it," Marcus closed the gate without realizing, slightly surprised that he had done so since Milo would usually close the gates.

——

"He's changed so much over the little time we've had him," Milo said, watching Marcus making Pirate lunge in a circle while changing his gates every so often.

"Want to try?" Marcus looked over at Milo once he got Pirate to finally stop after a few extra circles. "He might even do better if *you* give it a go."

"..sure," Milo's ears perked up, climbing through the gap in the fence. He walked over calmly, taking the lead from Marcus to continue.

——

Time became irrelevant again, Milo and Marcus were cooperating. Pirate was doing well, and Peanut was.. eating?
