An oddity among his fellow League members, Wayne did not start out as a Maverick Hunter but rather as a Civilian-grade Reploid created by College friends Kane and Finger. He was living a happy life until his creators were gunned down in front of him by a Maverick who called himself the Jester. Not one wishing to let it happen again, Wayne volunteered to be part of Project Cadmus in the hopes of avenging his creators by becoming the Batman.

When I asked him why he chose the codename "Batman" he simply glared at me and said nothing. It wasn't until I was paid a visit by both of their respective children and wives was I told that Batman was the name of a comic book vigilante the two doctors had worked together on while in college. I often wonder if Kal's creators(Dr. Shuster and Dr. Siegel) had ever been in contact with Wayne's before their deaths. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if there was an Amazonian based female Reploid bein made to combat these new Mavericks.

Like all Justice League X members, Wayne cannot bring himself to take another life, be they human or machine. However, Wayne is the only member who will more violent methods to get information. He is one out of two League members who possesses a buster. Wayne modified his buster to only incapacitate, never to kill.

Wayne is the most paranoid Reploid I have ever met. He has created contingency plans to take care of his fellow League members should they ever turn Maverick. I wouldn't pass him to have created contingency plans to incapacitate the Maverick Hunters or even me. I recall Zero asking him what his contingency plan is should he ever turn Maverick himself. Wayne only replied, "It's the Maverick Hunters and Justice League X,"
