Not quite sure what is happening here. There are quite a few sacred rituals and ceremonies that Eloi has to submit to.
I have not yet written this one. All I know is that it is some dedication to Vanimonimo

I recognize a Shark priest from Ngu'u Ahi (the very dark skinned old man with long white dreads). The people of Ngu'u Ahi worship the great ocean god Vasaloloa (one of the three) in his form as Dwaka the ravenous Shark God.

Because Eloi is a diver (he was a champion junior diver in the outside world which in high school and is supposed to continue competing when he goes to university but ...) Anyway he became a member of the Cliff Divers Cult at Paliloa at a young age. He caught the diving bug from his cousins Feku’lā and Le’etia and another older cousin. Whenever he came home to Vanuloloa he would climb up the sacred cliff (making an offering to Pele first of course) and then throw all his medals into the ocean below because in his mind all his dives even those made in the outside world were made to honour Vasaloloa.

So the people of Ngu'u Ahi find him intriguing and are a little bit obsessed with him because of his connection with Vasaloloa not to mention a number of other reasons including one I probably do not have to mention.

Here too we have the two nephews of the Kama Mō’ī Ngu'u Ahi - I was a bit confused as to what they were doing there but then I realized that it is probably because the younger of the two has taken a bit of a shine for the Ngu'u Hiva Kama Mō’ī. I am working on a scene with these three ... because yes ... the cousins have to share and Eloi cannot show one more favor over the other so it cannot be one first and then then the other.

The other to young men next to the Priest are probably kalikane like Eloi. I do not think they are Kuikama. But you KNOW that the youngest Ngu'u Ahi Kama Mō’ī is hoping that he can take part in the ceremony.

I'm not sure what the big chubby looking guy is there for though.

I also realize that there are two priests missing a priest or priestess of Pele and one of Vanimonimo.
