Im a noob on Luxrender myself.,. if i had to point out any flaws in this i would suggest theres slightly too much noise reduction blurring out some detail. And perhaps have a different lighting setup with more mesh lights, front back, left right, highlight etc. Also if the roughness of the shader is set too high it might blur the detail looking through the diamonds.

I may be mistaken but I thought that diamonds refracted light that was at least partially dispersed, that is , some of the white light splits into its component colors as it passes through. it does look very nice though, 211 hours , wow. I'm glad the blender team gave us the cycles engines engine. granted it doesn't quite deliver the same precision as blender but it does deliver them in a tiny fraction of the time.
P.S i'm probably being quite ignorant here , any corrections you can provide would be appreciated XD

ugh, I have no clue how to use Luxrender properly. Any tutorials you can refer me to?

I used this forum discussion a little bit for this:

Mostly though it was just experimentation and hours (if not days) of waiting for test renders to come through.
Also, go to the LuxRender chat room if you have specific issues. The people on their are incredibly helpful and know their stuff:

Best of luck!

I've revisited this image, and I've came to the conclusion that I was wrong; there is actually a very glassy property to certain diamonds, so I'm sorry about that.
Can I ask though; how did you get the edges so sharp? Mine are kinda fuzzy...
(211 hours? Wow, commitment..!)

Sure, not a problem.
As for your problem I would just make sure you rendered it to the right size and your not viewing the rendering process at like 125% of the actual image. If that's not it you should try the luxrender chat room. They're really helpful.

It could be the antialiasing, and as for resolution scale, it's definitely at 100%... (I'm pretty sure there isn't a way to get it above that, actually, or making several different resolutions would be much easier for me...)
Thanks, I appreciate the help!

Presets never give an exact result. You control the render, not the other way around.
