Description
When he first dreamed of her, he thought nothing of it. After all, he had experienced all manner of dreams in the lonely little spacecraft, drifting along space tides.
When he began to dream about meeting the strange woman every night, with her lilac hair dropped about her shoulders and her skin all moon-kissed, he knew they were more than simple dreams.

Far away, past the stars and boundaries between dimensions, she too lay in her bed and met with the green skinned one who so captivated her.
So they dreamed in delicate moon shadows and shared whispered secrets of completely different worlds, without ever knowing the other truly existed.

But soon he fell in love with her, and to wake up each day after a fleeting dream only made him feel even more lonely. However, he was not one to give up. So he turned his ship towards the edge of the universe, determined that one day he would find the woman from another world.

This is my entry for #Realm-of-Fantasy 's Fantasy Sci-fi Fusion Contest.

I stumbled upon the contest a month late, however I was determined to enter. This image posed a lot of challenges that I have never done before - such as night lighting, an alien, metal, and space. I am very pleased with the outcome however.

With this image, I wanted to depict the two worlds (fantasy and science-fiction) without actually mashing them in one character. So I chose instead to have them as completely separate worlds, but have them touch in the minds of two characters.
To depict them dreaming of each other, I have them reaching out but still not quite touching, unable to reach the other except for through dreams. The glow around their hands symbolises the dream world.

So there are my thoughts behind the concept The story above was also written specially for the image.

The art was drawn in Photoshop, the original size is 4000x4082
Photo and a bit of 3D reference was used for the characters and sheets, and various other references for things such as the metal and lighting.
