Awesome. Looking at the idea of the bolt hitting the strings, a lot of compound long bows have a little notch which holds the strings out of the way. In this case, it could take the form of an arch over the bolt groove.

Top idea though. Do you mind if I add it to my list of cool stuff to try to make a sketchup model of?

hmm, i think it looks good, but it might be impractical: the bolt will most certainly hit the cords, and deviate from the trajectory it was meant to take (not to mention the damage to the cord)
