Don’t you think the shines in the hair is a bit bright?

But it doesn't look natural, and distracts you from everything else.

It's the way I always do the shine in the hair, thanks for the criticism, but I won't change it since it's part of my art style.

You should change it, just because it’s part of your style, doesn’t mean you can it looks good. It distracts your eyes away from the post important part of the picture.

Sorry to interrupt, but why should they change their style, when it's the way they're perfectly happy with it? If they thought the shine was too much, they probably wouldn't have made it that shiny to begin with.
In my opinion, the shine just adds more depth to the drawing as a whole, and I love the way it's portrayed.
It might not be 100 % natural-looking, but as they've mentioned, it's a gem based on Steven Universe - a cartoon, so it's not really meant to be natural to begin with.
Also, don't you think it's rude to tell an artist to change their art style, just because you yourself don't like it?

I’m telling them they should change it because it is very distracting. I understand that artists have different styles, but the shine shouldn’t be so bright, even if it’s a fantasy character. Also, people need to change their styles overtime. While they may like it now, they probably won’t in the future. I am suggesting they change it now so that they can get better in the future.

Change in art style happens naturally though?
If you don't like the way the shine is, that's fair, but that's no reason to tell them to change their style, as they've been through their own art development until now.
Even if they don't like it in the future, it's still part of the journey to keep developing their own style.

I’m not trying to be rude, I’m trying to help. I want to help them improve, so that they’ll get better in future drawings.

Thanks for that, but art styles are constantly evolving. I will change it whenever I see fit and whenever my style goes in another direction.
