Description A team of specialists in the Star Law role-playing game universe (an updated version of Star Frontiers). I figure a team like this would probably be using an assault scout class ship. Takes me way back. I used to have the Knight Hawks book and a bunch of miniatures when I wa a kid.

This is a commissioned piece for the upcoming issue of a Star Frontiers 'zine.

I would see the guy with no armor on would be the first to die in a firefight, and the guy with the smaller assault rifle should have the giant sniper rifle, haha

Β I recently dug up my original Star Frontiers RPG along with the Knight Hawks star ship game and we are playing it every Friday night. We're just using Humans at the moment but as the game progresses I will introduce alien races (whatever miniatures I have lying around I guess since they only made about six of the races for the game in miniature)
Β I've based the "worlds" on my new book Beyond the Crystal Heaven.

The fanzine, Frontier Explorer, is on line. Not sure about where you can get the game itself. Only the girl is a genesis character. The other three are M4.

Ok what armor are they wearing and what cyberarm is that?

One of the xurge armors, and the arm is from cyberpunk for m4 with the postapocalyptic textures.

I retextured them quite a bit to get the look I wanted. I rarely leave the off-the-shelf stuff alone.

Man i do know what you mean.. I just don't think im that good with the texturing.. because I keep redoing and redoing the textures.. I'm never satisfied.. They never look right to me.

If you are using Daz Studio, go to renderosity's free section and look for "fast metals" and the "ultimate shader pack". Also learn uber's shading stuff and pwSurface 2. Also don't be afraid to go into the texture maps, make a copy of them (that's an important part) and experiment. Add scratches, decals, logos, change the colors, whatever. Then save them to a separate file somewhere else on your computer and use them instead of the standard textures. Fiddle with ambient, glossiness, opacity, bump, etc. Eventually you'll start knowing what changes to make just by looking at them. Whenever you can look at real items made of the same material and see whats different. Also, lighting, lighting, lighting. I use photography rules for much of my lighting, esp. 3-point lighting. It helps you get the best texture results, I've found.

I've been remiss in my follow ups:
ILJackson's illustration is part of this article in issue 6: frontierexplorer.org/book/exte…
All Frontier Explorer content is available on Drive thru RPG, as online content that can be linked to directly or as PDF for down load at the magazine site.

Bill Logan has a license to produce digitally remastered copies off all Star Frontiers publications and hosts those at his DWD studios where you will also find copies of the Star Frontiersman fan zine as well:
dwdstudios.com/

The holders of the fan license at starfrontiers.com have permission to offer scans of the original materials on their site.

and starfrontiers.us is a treasure trove of material and one of the places where a lot of development of new material that ends up in fan magazines goes on.

again a big thankyou to Jackson for his support of the Frontier Explorer.

What i would love is to get better more realistic metallics, or materials.

"Fast metals" is good and there are a few others out there. Here are some I use:Β www.sharecg.com/v/27568

ILJackson, thanks again for the support of Frontier Explorer. We couldn't do a quality fan magazine without the support of awesome artist like yourself.

We'll post a new note when the issue publishes.

the biggest problem with being a trouble shooter, is that trouble tends to shoot back with heavier armament....other than that it's a great job...Β
