Description So I never really liked what the TCG had going on as far as fossils, so when it was announced that Red Collection would have "Revived Pokémon," I was intrigued. I decided to borrow this concept for Neo Redux. What would normally have been Stage 1 first-stage fossils are now Revived Pokémon like in Red Collection.

I also tried to spruce up the blanks to match the fossil cards (see Old Amber) a little bit. The fossils themselves can be played as Basic Pokémon, much like the trainer cards, but like the Buried Fossil card from Skyridge, are actually on what looks like a Pokémon card (not a trainer).

Card/blank by me; art by Guikao.

Fossil Item cards no longer count as Pokémon. Instead, you have to play the Fossil Item card, look at the bottom seven cards of your deck to find a Pokémon that the Item card describes, place said Pokémon onto your bench, and shuffle the other six cards back into your deck.

In other words, "Put Kabuto (this Pokémon) on the Fossil card" should be "Place this Pokémon (Kabuto) onto your Bench only with the effect of Dome Fossil."

If you've seen my my Old Amber card ([link] ), you'll see that my Fossil cards are still, essentially, considered Pokémon. Essentially, it works just as it used to (with the exception of name/stage differences) -- play a fossil card, "revive" it by evolving it. I just never liked the fact that Omanyte, Kabuto, etc. were considered Stage 1 in the TCG.

Thanks for your comment, though!

I'm just going with what the new Black & White cards go by -even though the new Fossil mechanic I explained to you won't appear in English until Noble Victories-. Either way, you're welcome.

Thanks! Yeah, I was aware of the new mechanic, but it wasn't quite what I wanted to do for Redux.

Cool! Kind of low HP, though.

By today's standards, sure, but the original Kabuto only had 30 HP!

In fact, 50 HP was its maximum HP in all Wizards-produced sets (up until Skyridge). Since Neo Redux is a Neo-era set, the HP is actually fitting.

No, that's not what I meant, I meant for a revived Pokemon. Revived Pokemon have been officially stated to be designed so they're more like Stage 1 Pokemon than Basic Pokemon.

And Neo-era fossil Pokémon WERE Stage 1 Pokémon.

Truthfully, I like Revived Pokémon because of the name moreso than the concept of having more powerful versions. The method of evolution between these Revived Pokémon is different than the BW method -- getting Revived Pokémon into play using the BW method is much more difficult (searching the bottom 7 cards of your deck), hence the high power. These ones are played from fossil cards just like the Wizards cards, so they basically function as Basic Pokémon.

Eh, can't say I like the lower HP, though...
What type blanks will be up next?

Well, Kabuto does only have 30 base HP...

Probably Ice. I've been busying packing for school so I haven't had much time for anything.

Any chance you'll be using the blanks any time soon?

Maybe not immediately, but I will get around to using them. You can be sure of that!

With the cards I have, the fossil is a Neo Redux trainer card with 10 HP, and the pokemon (in this case Omanyte)is a Stage 1 with 40 HP. The fossil is played like a pokemon card, has no attacks, can't retreat, and can't get a status effect.

Yeah, but that was back in the days when almost every card had ridiculously low HP.
