They were/are mid-late 20th c. artists heavily influenced by western modern art, especially Picasso.

Yeah--some of the Yunnan paintings are simpler, I think, than those at the link I found. What I thought was similar was the way you used stylized shapes for the figure and her hair ... that kind of idealized female form.
Thanks for what you write about my style. I am almost an untrained painter, so it actually means a lot to me to read something like that. My only formal training is two classes in Chinese brush painting with a professional painter. Other than that, I have read books, looked at pictures, and practiced. I mostly paint in acrylics now, which are very different than Chinese painting.

what do you mean by stylized shapes exactly? i just realized i never spoke english about art hmmm

I think stylized might not quite be the right word. What I mean is the way you use shapes, sort of like Art Deco, that are little formal or idealized. Does that make sense?
