I've never learned to play chess but I have a nice wooden chess board which inspired me to make this painting three years ago. It didn't come out quite as I had imagined but I thought you may like it.Related content

I just learned how to play chess in my US. History class. I've been playing it a lot on the computer lately and just saw Searching For Bobby Fischer. It's a great movie. >.o Wish I could play speed chess like that.

Thanks everyone for your kind comments and the feedback about how chess really works. I truly appreciate every single comment but I'm so overwhelmed and too busy to respond to everyone personally, but I'll try.

The feeling brought out in this piece seem almost awkarwdly void in the player's face. While he is concentration on the game he plays alone, our minds run free and away from the mathematical precision, carried by the pieces flying from their bounds.
The deep contrats are very beautiful, and the seemingly average old chess player is made into something more grand, more wise. The only bit that draws my eye in a negative way is that glass, I think I am not fully understanding the slope of the table; the glass seems slightly tilted to the right.
The blend of traditionalims and abstract is brilliant, wonderful colours and a stunning composition.

I like the pieces around him, and the way he looks to the board.
This may look good close to the place in the house (or whatever) where the chess board is, like behind the one who's playing. That's my idea, though, I don't know how to play chess... and, I don't have a chess-board and I don't have a house, but, It will be in my "deviant page" to always remind me to have this things

it's like he is staring at me , waiting for my turn , and at the same time looking to the board thinking what he should do next .

Lovely painting! ... it just bothers me that the set up is not one that is possible in chess (Lacks the kings for a start).
But since that isn't really important here, i think it's a really wonderful piece.
