This is cute. And don't listen to that guy. His art is garbage anyway and he had no right to say that. The hound's tooth patern is very difficult and using checkers is completely acceptable. I doubt he could do it anyway. You got the expression which is what is important.

Well it was not a helpful critique. It's obvious he was doing it just to be mean. I don't think it matters. As long as you recognize him it's ok. When I sketch him I just draw stripes. If I intend to color him then I do checkers just to I know where to put stuff then add details later. All my art is done traditionally in pencil first then I scan and ink in photoshop. So yeah no need to get technical if you're just having fun. I draw for myself anyway.

I am aware that it's not the original design, however, I can not draw hound's tooth correctly so I chose to use an easier pattern.
