Description *Disclaimer* the modotan is a fictional animal of my own creation.

A derived titanosaur sauropod, the modotan is the largest land animal in all of Kaimere. Out on the grasslands north of the Chakhat Empire, the steppe modotan can grow to 120 feet in length and weigh 80-90 tons. Above is an illustration of the island species. The island modotan is much smaller, rarely growing longer than 40 feet. This animal thrives on the temperate rainforests of Pakardia Island, but can also be found in scattered populations throughout the islands of the Free States, Lutzkar, and Kenta. It has many names given their wide distribution, with the Pakardiant calling them Jurazhent.

Although they look like gentle giants, the males of this small island species can be incredibly violent and territorial during the rut. During the rut the males gather and engage in contests of wrestling. The fat on their faces is a feature evolved to protect their faces from biting by their competitors, and the resonator can be felt miles away as they call out to challengers. There are many reports from Pakardiant of males that bite and trample hunters, loggers, and villagers to death without provocation. Their thick hide, 6 inches in some places, means that conventional weapons are almost useless against them. The layers of fat on their faces also protects their throats and eyes, vulnerabilities that in other species the Pakardiant could target. For most of the year, however, these giants do not pose a threat. The rut is often watched closely by Pakardiant hunters, who ambush losing males lying down to catch their breath and nursing their wounds and kill them by driving long-bladed spears into their soft bellies. The meat of a modotan is highly praised among the islanders for its rich flavor and toughness, and is one of their less frequent but highly valued exports.

Cheers, folks!

Well, it sounds possible but sauropods were the least bird-like dinosaurs. On a theropod more likely.

Had to look that up but yeah, I see it! That critter's exposed teeth are terrifying.

I'd like to see the Steppe Modotan. Btw, "Modotan" sounds awesome. It could easily be a good common name for sauropods if they were still alive.

Amazing work!
