Description *Disclaimer* the rahrak is a fictional animal of my own creation.

The rahrak is a derived abelisaur. They are the apex predators of Pakardia, a large forested island in Kaimere. In this species the females are notably larger and more robust than the colorful males, and often mate with 2-5 males. Although color and size are the easiest way to differentiate between the sexes, the females have completely lost their arms, while males retain colorful single-clawed arms that facilitate mating.

An inverse of the African lion, the male rahrakil perform a majority of the hunting, while the female defends her territory and only helps with the hunt if they are going after especially dangerous game, in which case the males wound the prey and drive it to her. They are large-game specialists, generally lacking the agility to catch small prey. When hunting, rahrakil prefer to ambush from a secluded position. Each member of the group delivers a devastating bite, pushing their jaws as far as they can onto the prey before jerking their heads back, their backwards-facing teeth tear flesh from their victim. After the single bite, the rahrakil retreat into the dense brush. The prey then dies from shock and blood loss. The top of a rahrak's robust skulls is reinforced with cornified skin and their lower jaw is padded with fat, all to absorb and reduce the stress of these impacts.

Rahrak is Pakardiant for 'arm-thief'. This name is in reference to their habit of tearing off the arms of their human victims. According to Pakardiant folklore this is because rahrakil lack arms and are jealous of the arms and hands possessed by humans. In truth, it is the only way for the rahrak to swallow a human, since they are not large enough to fit their jaws around human shoulders.

Cheers, folks!
