Description
The krakens, notorious giant cephalopods of the deep oceans, have long intrigued naturalists and sailors alike. Although the term and its original Kaimeran words have long been assumed to be a natural grouping, recent studies suggest that as many as four distinct clades make up the krakens. Some are squids related to cuttlefish, at least one is likely an octopus, and there are two ammonite clades of kraken, one with a spiraling shell and another with straight shells.
