Description The only regular predator of Kaimeran sirenians is an ancient rival: Hemipristis serra. This giant weasel shark, called Yakuamun by the Kentarim, grows between twenty and twenty-five feet in length. Based on fossil evidence, they have specialized in sirenians since before either was harvested. They thrive in the seagrass meadows by avoiding prey preferred by the resident king, focusing on the sirenians that are quick to swim out of the kurajaku’s range, but that graze below the hunting grounds of young megalodon and panther sharks that sometimes hunt in the meadows and target dolphins and small whales feeding on fish and other prey closer to the surface. In fact, this niche is so profitable and lacking in significant competition that sirenians make up as much as 95% of this shark’s diet. Although their serrated teeth are quite ferocious and they are massive sharks, their preference for sea cows is so strong that the Kentarim consider them safe to swim near as long as one is respectful.
