Description This dramatic painting was named The Patriarch
at the 2007 Asia Painting Competition; themed Expressive Key but didn't win the nominated prize.

I find myself easily lost in the landscape of the elephant skin. In this composition, I chose not to show the entire elephant thus creating the bull larger than life, as well as lending importance to the cattle egrets.

I found this old bull in China Wildlife Reserve Park as he came to watering hole to drink. His body language clearly told me he did not want to share!

The Patriarch is now available in Chinese Fine Art Gallery which main focus was a wildlife paintings.

The original size is about 19 x 27 inches, acrylic on linen, well this is just a private photo of my actual canvas painting.

Hope You'll gonna like it, because I don't have enough skills to paint elephant.

Thanks for viewing, Always Best Regards and God Bless You All and Save The Elephants from Damn Tusks hunters by donating to Wildlife Reservation Parks!

Love the work, but not the name. There is no such thing as an elephant patriarch - the males are bulls and are solitary creatures that are in no way patriarchal in their function - elephants have a matriarchal-based social structure.

Actually, it has been found even male elephants socialize, and that old males play key roles in these male-only groups.

The Patriarch by JOHN BANOVICH. Sorry dude, you need to try to find a lesser-known wildlife artist to screw over.

And whoop! Appears this compliment is meant instead for a Mr. John Banovich. As you've simply taken a picture of his original painting and submitted it to dA. You even kept the original name. Hahah.

Your texture work on this is purely astonishing. It was a very good idea not to do the entire animal and instead focus on its midsection. Not only did it allow you to focus more on fine detail it made the scene more dynamic.

wow... I have no words. The elephant is beautifully rendered, and I agree with the above poster, the addition of the egrets serves to make him look all the more impressive!

Umm... the original idea was taken from the actual scene, I just paint it from as a reflection and addiction to wildlife phenomenon. Really, the brilliant genius and the master in this painting is belong to The God Himself.

But really thanks for your compliments, Arc. It's an honor for me.

The feel and intensity added by the dust clouds, and the life and motions of the birds are fantastic. I'm very impressed by the way you are able to use these devices to reach a great effect on a motive!
I'm deeply inspired.

Incredible painting! I can see why it's in the Fine Art Museum! I can feel the lack of tolerance in this old bull and he's saying so clearly, "Don't mess with me!". I get the feeling he is bluff charging. I'm just blown away Tou!

The texture of this guy's skin is fantastic! I think your choice of framing was very good as well. Cropping the image like that makes the elephant seem huge! The graceful egrets provide a lovely contrast to the powerful elephant.

I'm sorry to tell you this sir, you've been wrong to place the patriarch painting: it should be in traditional section on your collection, it is not a digital art

But it's all up to you, I really appreciate your comment and also for the fave.
Thank you for stopping by. ^^
