Full view plzThe concept is partially borrowed from the old seamen's legends of leviathans that were so huge that they were sometimes mistaken as islands, with a slight modification that you won't have failed to notice. Yes, it's flying; or, more appropriately, floating.
The name "remora" can be intended as a double pun: on the island, that is attached on the back of a large creature, or a pun on the giant fish, which is a remora (I know it doesn't look like one, but please bear with me) but ironically, has to carry something instead of being carried itself.

And I do think it looks like a remora. A slightly over-weight remora perhaps, but the shape of the head is unmistakable.

Also yes, I made it quite round on purpose; I wanted to make it look like something that has had a long time to grow bigger and fatter. Originally it looked more like a remora, but in the end I think it ended up resembling more a carp with the head of a whale. The flat, triangular head is pretty much the only remora feature it has left. But I'm happy with the results anyways.
