So you may recognise this, if you're an old follower of course! I've updated quite an old piece and thats because it is a re-do of depression:

I really like this piece, but all I could see were the issues so I thought I would go back into it and see what I have learned since the last time this was done! I've got a video of the stream I did while doing this so feel free to have a peep and see what you think!

So this piece, or at least the previous piece caused a bit of a ruckus over the name. I stand by the name, and the piece. I could go on and explain why it is as it is and the imagery the style it is, rather than the over used crying person in a corner, but I won't. What I will say is, depression sucks. It sucks the love and joy out of everything, and you become this hollow shell.
I wouldn't wish it upon my worst enemy, and the most frustrating thing is that you can never tell when the end is, or, if it ever will come. Unlike a broken bone, you know eventually you'll be able to walk but with depression. Will you ever come out of that haze?

How ridiculous it is that you have to defend or explain yourself for choosing that title. Of course it is also interesting to get a little insight on the creators thoughts and feelings towards a painting. But you shouldnt /have to/, like anyone would have the right to judge what sort of feelings you put into it.
At first I wondered why it might be so dark, a little low in saturation but it fits just right making it all a little heavier. Really nice work.

If you don't understand how the image is about depression, that's fine. I personally don't like obvious symbolism in my art.

depression can be so quiet. the worst moments in my life weren't when i was in the middle of a meltdown, rather when i simmered alone at 3 in the morning. funny how that works

I had a conversation with a friend who followed a man on twitter who lost one of his legs. And he is really int bionics and pro life and all around a very joyful person. She told me she felt guilty that she had all her limbs and could not enjoy life. I told her that it is very difficult to validate the enjoyment of life. Joy is our missing limb. You cannot see it, you cannot immediately tell what the person suffers from what it has troubles with, but it is there and it is a handicap. Depression is an illness that follows me around for a long time. I have it mostly under control I can function but when it hits, it hits hard and it turns the hole perception of my surroundings into a bleak void of nothingness. There is no sadness, no joy, no regret, no hope and no rage just a big hole of nothing. If there is the possibility for a human to grasp the concept of being dead, depression is pretty damn close.

Same issue with survivors guilt, or the whole "kids are starving so eat all your food", one persons misery doesn't cancel out anothers.

Not an arsehole as much that they think I'm beautifying or idealising depression. Like, that I am weird and think its beautiful.
