Hi Foxx Switpaw here with an art review. As usual I will break this review into four parts, on for each of the grading categories. So with out any further delay let's get started.
Vision: This got a four star from me because it is a great picture of Twilight and of those who know me she is my favorite cannon character, but also this picture has a lot of feeling to it. It also has a lot of mystery. Just look at her eyes and the night scene. It all makes for a great picture.
Originality: Partial points docked here but that's only because of it not being an original character, but not to many because it has a great background. Even the base for her pony is unique and that gives her some added points. Not to mention it is Twilight Sparkle my favorite character, which in this case helps for the points because the artist does a great job displaying her. So here I would have to give it four stars.
Technique: Now with this being a digital work I would have to say dock it points but not as many as most digital works. I know I am mean to digital artists by not ever giving them full points but really I am a traditional hand drawn kind of person. Sorry but the style used here does award the artist bonus points because a first glance one might think it was a water color or a painted work. Nicely done and it receives a shocking three point five stars here.
Impact: Again the artist's choice of character has an effect on this category for I really like Twilight and that effects the impact a picture has on me. Now that isn't the only factor that went into determining the star level for this one. Twilight's pose as well as the background, even the look in her eye just fills the viewer with emotion. I was touched by it and have to award it four stars.
Overall this is one of the best digital pieces I've seen yes there is some minor details that could be fixed to improve the background but it's a background, it's not supposed to be full detail it would only take away from the focus of the picture and that is Twilight. Now as for Twilight she is full of detail and that is what make for a great picture. I can't wait to see more work from this artist and would even consider hiring them one day.
