Description A Nerf Longshot that i modded. I gave it a custom paint job and integrated the smaller detachable gun to the front of this gun where the bi-pod used to be. I also have it set to fire that integrated part with the using the main trigger, meaning that i can fire the 6 bullet clip then cock the front part for an extra shot, or fire both at the same time with the pull of one trigger.
I removed the air restrictors for increased fire distances and fires custom stefans

Sweet mod!
What did you do to merge the front with the main body?
I would love to try this myself!

Awesome mod, and you did a pretty righteous job on the wear and tear style with the desert colors. Great work.

Thank you, and thanks for checking out my work. I really haven't seen anything quite like this in a long while, so finding this one really picked up my spirits and I'm going to see if I can't try to replicate some of the techniques I see here. Have you been doing many mods like this before?

Other than removing air restrictors and swapping out barrels on the Maverick, this was my very first "real" mod. I set my goals pretty high for that Longshot not knowing what I was getting myself into. But in the end, it was worth it. Its a pretty bug accomplishment for me and since its the only real modded one I have, I see it as my personal trophy.

I would have liked to continue on this hobby (I had some pretty awesome ideas for fusing the Manta Ray to a Maverick) but its no fun when everyone bails on you haha

Looks great! Just enough weathering to pull the details out, and the underbarrel extra gun mod makes the whole thing look like a beefier heavy assault gun than the original Longshot design.

You should! its very rewarding once youve finished. even if it never makes it to a nerf war, it makes for an awesome trophy

would you mind telling me how you made that? I kinda wanna remake it but with a different color scheme. It looks like an assault rifle and it would go great with this cosplay outfit I'm trying to make.

heres a good tutorial on fitting the extra gun to the main body. i used thick wire instead of a coat hanger though

good luck!

that's a real cool design! looks like the gun you'd find in Aliens.

i'm currently modding a LS too; my first one and first time trying. i've been considering using the front gun too and an integration; kinda wasteful to just throw it away.

but one thing that perks my curiosity is how did you managed to rig the trigger mechanism to fire both guns at the same time? would you care to share?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ImJustSomeGuy In reply to RMugi [2009-07-23 13:35:30 +0000 UTC]

thanks! im glad you like it. its my pride and joy

when intergrating the smaller gun, you would obviously need to shave off the visible finger trigger, but theres still the trigger mechanism inside. i drilled small holes in the end of the trigger mechanisms of each gun and tied a thin metal wire to each. your going to need to "cut out" some inside plastic so that you can snake the wire through (right over the big orange piece where the clip slides. youll know what im talking about when you open it up.)

heres a tutorial online to visually see what im talking about. but replace coat hanger with thin metal wire. its much easier not having to bend a coat hanger.

good luck with your first LS mod! i hope it turns out awesome.

Sweet!

Hey, just asking... Is this picture backwards? cuz i noticed that the cocking mechanism on the big gun is on the opposite side of the gun in the link that you gave for the mod! Im not kidding!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ImJustSomeGuy In reply to dragonartistJRR [2009-03-09 02:03:53 +0000 UTC]

hm. if i understand what your saying, then my answer is no. my picture isnt backwards because the cocking handle (HA cock handle) is on both sides of the gun. perfect for right or left handers, but not perfect if i wanted to mount it on a wall. mount.

and thanks for the fav!

Removing the air restrictor system actually works? 'Cause, I've seen a video or two, and some comments are complaints that it just broke the gun, or that the guy was lying.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ImJustSomeGuy In reply to AvatarKiba [2009-02-05 06:51:41 +0000 UTC]

yes, removing the air restrictor does work. ive done it with the longshot and the maverick. if you do it wrong, then yes, it will ruin everything. like i did on my 2nd longshot. drilled a hole right through the tube 8/

What kind of paint did you use and what were the names of the colors? what method did you use to paint the gun and where dis you find the way to attach the front part to the bottom? it looks so good that i need to try it myself.

👍: 0 ⏩: 2

ImJustSomeGuy In reply to DaMonkeyG [2008-01-26 02:48:56 +0000 UTC]

both colors are Krylon brand. the gray is actually just primer since i couldnt find any gray spray paint. Krylon has a military camouflage line of paint and i use "khaki." I use Flat or Extra Flat spray paint so you dont get that glossy, toy look. for the work look i just used some gray acrylic paint and used a dry brush paint method. There are several tutorials on that online, but in short, its pretty much using a dry, wide paint brush, dabbing it in paint and brush most of it off on some newspaper. then use whatevers paint left and brush and dab. The attachment is fairly easy, but it takes time. You can a tutorial of that here: [link]
in that tutorial, he uses a clothes hanger for the trigger. i used wire which is easier since you dont have to hassle with bending and shaping the clothes hanger.
