Description
Wandering about the deserts and scublands of their homeworld of Tau Ceti IV are the Shaglumps, three meter tall radially symmetric herbivores which get their name from the large lump of fleshy tissue covered in a coat of bristly hair. Descended from a starfish like progenitor that crawled out of their homeworld's seas some 300 million years ago, shaglumps have a long flexible trunk with a four sectioned jaw that they used to eat plant life. Shagbeasts are constantly on the move in search of food, water and mates. Their secondary limbs have atropied to the point that they're only useful hold onto their mates during mating sessions. They lay leathery eggs that have been likened to mermaids purses in batches of three or four up to five times a year. These are buried in sand or hidden in rocks to incubate. After about a month they hatch into hatchlings, which soon crawl out and begin to look for vegetation. There primary defense mechanism as both infants and adults is to run away as quickly as they can and they can get up to 45km/h if pressed, despite this their fiberous bones litter their desert homes as their fatty flesh is a feast that the predators of the desert crave.
