She ran elegantly through the forest she had grown to know like the back of her paws. Her mind raced wondering if she would be accepted back into the Vryheid Van Siel, if she would be seen as a traitor for getting caught. She found the embarrassment she felt form into a ball at her throat. She couldn’t bare to be rejected from them. She shook her head, causing her footing to falter briefly as she ran. She had not let that thought deter her the first time she attempted to join their ranks, she sure as hell wouldn’t let it deter her this time. The Vryheid was the only place she truly felt as though she belonged, as if she were useful.
Her round eyes scanned through the trees that surrounded her, hoping to catch a glimpse of a pack member or two. Would she even be remembered? – she found the doubt slowly keep back into her mind. She was lost in doubt that she nearly missed the small gathering of her fellow pack members as they were probably out scouting the surrounding forest. She dug her paws into the soft earth and skidded to a subtle stop before turning her full attention to the small portion of her pack. Her stormy blue gaze washed over each individual as they seemed preoccupied with the events occurring within the small group, all but one. Her gaze locked with familiar dark green orbs. They seemed to be assessing her with surprise and uncertainty. She couldn’t help the paranoid feeling that her disappearance had been seen as a betrayal and that it had been discussed. Perhaps Koa didn’t want her to return and had her labelled an outcast. She pushed the feeling aside and offered the Beauceron a warm smile as she trotted in their direction.
Shock still coloured the dark males features as he took a few cautious steps in her direction, whispering her name as a question. His tail unconsciously wagging behind him. Gene found it oddly adorable and couldn’t help but quietly chuckle as she nodded her head. Her eyes widened along with her grin as she watched the change in her friend. He easily changed from uncertain to overwhelmingly happy. It was good to see his smile again, she hadn’t realised just how much she had missed her friend on her venture abroad. She hadn’t even noticed just how close he had gotten until his dark nose touched hers. A blush immediately set her cheeks aflame, she couldn’t help but recoil from the unexpected touch, a nervous chuckle escaping her maw. Her gaze quickly darted from the tan-pointed male to her paws, which were now covered with the filth of the forest… she would have to clean them later.
It was his soft tone and unexpected words that drew her gaze back to his. A soft smile curving at her maw as butterflies danced within her stomach. “And I you.” Her tone was barely above a whisper, audible to only herself and Cody. But she knew all to well that they were not alone, and she was unprepared to accept her own feelings let alone have others know they were there. She couldn’t help but clear her throat, her gaze turning pointedly to their other company who had only just seemed to realise she was there. A warm smile once again graced her maw, her attention returning to Cody. “I think it best if I talk to Koa, see if he’ll accept me back…” She paused. She didn’t want to leave the comfort the Beauceron unknowingly gave her. “Come with me?” Her voice once again turned barely audible and held a certain sense of vulnerability to it. She had no idea what her most beloved Alpha would do.
