Subjects: Arthas Menethil from Warcraft III

This is the first picture I got that shows the whole outfit. It was shot in Lucca, during the biggest italian convention "Lucca Comics & Games".

COSTUME INFO:

The whole armor is made out of a special kind of rubber called "Plastazote", which I've been told is normally used to isolate ceilings. For the spikes I used paper party hats, shaping them to the proper dimension and protecting them with a bit of vinylic glue. Most of the half-spheres are table-tennis balls, cut in two and glued to the various pieces, while those on the belt I found them in polystyrene. For the skulls I exploited the Halloween period and bought them all, then modified them where needed.

The painting is a mixture of colored latex and acrylic paintings, plus a final layer of "Final LARP", a special product for live-RP's weapons, which is responsible for the lucid effect.

As for Frostmourne... I'm very proud of it! It's made of three layers of wood, which become five on the hilt. Rubbing down and carving it was a long and exhausting work, but definitely worth it as I've never been so satisfied of a piece of cosplay before. The skulls on the sword hilt are the only ones I did make on my own: I used something called "wood paste", which is nothing more than a paste you can shape however you want, before it hardens becoming identical to real wood.

Now, many people at the convention asked me about the "frozen stalactites effect". I decided to make it because I liked the idea of an ice-leaking armor, and I'm satisfied with the final result. I used just silicone rubber, putting it on the borders of every piece and letting it leak down, in order to get a more realistic look.

It took almost one month to make the whole outfit. If you have some questions, feel free to ask.
