Cracking shouldn't be an issue as it is not all one piece of wood. The form was created first by laminating three sections together with two inch thick stock. The top and bottom lay flat while the center is vertical, mortise and tenoned into place.

The very edge will be like 1-2 millimeters but quickly get a lot thicker. Due to the angle of the piece it should still look as though it is very thin throughout. These are my hopes anyways, who knows if it will actually work lol

Thank you, and its cherry. Hard to tell right now since the color is pretty muted cause I'm still in the rough carving stage but once its sanded and finished it will be a much warmer color that you would expect to see from cherry.
