I kind of want to stop and take a moment to just say thank you to everyone. I want to stop and take this moment because it's important to me that you all know that, and it's important to me that you understand why I'm saying it.

I had the weirdest feeling while driving to California for this art show in LA. I was driving hundreds of miles by myself, I was in a shitty car, with shitty clothes on, and a shitty amount of money to my name, but the feeling I had was happiness. Not just feeling happy, not just feeling positive, but a full happiness I think comes all too rarely in life. I am not sure I can pinpoint exactly the reasons, but I can certainly try to explain.

I spend everyday worrying about creating art that not only I myself will enjoy, but that many others will as well. It drives me and consumes me really. It's hard to articulate but I think many can relate to. I have spent years working towards something with little financial success, I have gone head long into the art world and ran into countless set backs, I have had the world promised to me and taken away over and over and it's been wonderful, interesting, and rough. But on this drive, on this drive to California, I knew I was doing something right. For the first time I knew I had something figured out, and fuck knows what it was really, but I figured that shit out. And maybe that was myself for one silly moment, for one dark road on the way to LA, I sort of understood who I was and what I was meant for, while still being in complete uncertainty as per usual with my life. It was such a good feeling and I owe that to you guys. I owe it to you because the basis of this feeling was that I felt my art was accepted and worthy of this. My art was good enough to travel for. My work was good enough to drive it's ass around the states so people could see it, and no matter what my opinion was of it, your opinion is what proved that. My finances and problems for the distance of 300 miles and 75mph went away, because although the people in LA had no fucking clue who I was, the people before them damn well did, and they were going to see whatever the hell it is you guys do, and that made me happy.

I don't know what's next. I spread myself thin and get lost in the frustration the maybe I'm not doing enough. Will I "make it" or will I be selling on the side of the street for my career. I don't know and I haven't figured it out. I know a lot of you picture me doing big things and have high hopes, but I just want to let you know I'm ok if things don't go well, it's not what's important, I want to continue to produce work that makes you laugh and smile, that makes you think, that makes you wonder, and if I have to drive across the US and live like a poor bastard sleeping in my car, but still get produce photos like that for you guys, well then it doesn't matter to me, I've already made it.
