Fortunately this is at quite a small pond so could see both together then, not so easy now the taddies have developed back legs and spread more thinly - newts have seen to that!

Poor tadpoles. But that's nature. Maybe those tads where just not as healthy and wouldn't have made it any way.

The tadpoles only get eaten by juvenile frogs and everything else in pond - sadly once into tiny froglets they often get devoured by the adults, its sad

Awww, that\'s so cute. I understand there are frog species in which the father takes a very active role in protecting his tads--he protects them from predators and makes sure they have enough water to swim in. I wish I knew which species, but I think they live in Africa.

Think I`ve seen that one on one of David Attenborough`s programmes. Unfortunately once the tadpoles turn frogs the adults often eat them, as tadpoles they`re safe though

Guess it does - sadly though frogs look upon baby frogs as more lunch than anything else. As tadpoles this one is safe as adult frogs don`t feed in the water - only the juvenile ones! Always amazes me any grow into frogs at all everything seems to want to eat them!
