Location: Islamabad Pakistan

This is from my archives, one of my first photojournalistic projects was the refugee slum on the outskirts of Islamabad. It had been occupied by internally displaced persons from the tribal areas when the Taliban started occupying their lands and wreaking havoc in a reign of terror. They build rough mud dwellings and lived without electricity, water or drainage for many years. Eventually the government took some action and has relocated them all to a better facilitated camp (initially built for earthquake survivors) .. however it is so far from the city that it is impossible for them to get work or earn a living,
Many of them are now sneaking back into Islamabad.

The background is the cracked mud wall of his dwelling and in his hand are prayer beads which he was reciting. I do hope that his prayers are someday answered.
