Well from my friends that I know, There is a slight separation between the Polo players and the Tent peggers.
The "Aristocracy" of Pakistan can easily be split between the "Industrialists" and the "Feudal Landlords" .. Both sports are equally expensive, to manage a stable of horses. The Industrialists tend to favor Polo while the feudal landlords somehow favour tent pegging. But you will find polo teams playing tent pegging, but rarely versa.
Tent pegging is making quite the revival, It was very popular during the times of Zulfiqar ALi Bhutto .. In those years there was The Government sponsored annual Horse and Cattle shows in most major cities and Tent Pegging was the the major attraction. This fizzled out and was replaced by privately run ones .. they lasted a number of years and then fizzled out. About five years back .. the government again started sponsoring Tent pegging events especially in the capital and now we see a major revival of the sport

Thank you very much .. actually they say polo has its orgins going back to the same set of lancers/cavalry that was responsible for tent pegging. And here most of the participants are also on polo teams.
