One of my growing favourite places in Islamabad for finding effervescent and interesting people, is the Christian Ghetto. Its a little known place tucked away in the center of Islamabad. It is as old as Islamabad itself and at that time it was on the periphery of the city. The city has grown and engulfed it, but has not swallowed it up. The houses are ramshackle, the alleyways narrow, but every now and then one comes across burst of colour on the walls and a poor but albeit vibrant community.

The ghetto doesnt have many shops because one of the largest markets in Islamabad is just across the road. But still many people have converted a room in their house into a Shop in a window, usually convenient outlets for candy for the kids and common spices for the home.
