Description
The Common Caerulean is widely distributed in Singapore, often found at the edges of the nature reserves, flying around shrubs and grasses a few feet from the ground. This species is one of the many look-alike species of the genus Jamides. Identification of several of the species found in Malaysia is impossible, without dissection of the genitalia.

Habitat & Habits
The Common Caerulean is a bright metallic blue on the upperside with buff-grey undersides and white striae. The female has a broad black border on the upperside and is almost white. Like most of the species in the genus, the Common Caerulean has a white-tipped tail at vein 2 on the hindwing, and an orange-crowned eyespot on the underside hindwing.

Early Stages
The caterpillar stage of this species is attended by ants.
