So, here she is in her glory, the mother of Discord, Goddess of the sisters, creator of magic and harmony, and the former empress of the great Draconequus empire.

When the sun, moon, stars and planets were young, many creatures wandered the primordial planet of Posidius, taking many shapes and forms. The planet itself was filled with magic, and it often warped some of the animals, imbewing them with more power than others. It mutated them, changing their forms, and eventually, granting sentience. These proto-creatures, blessed with magic and free thought, were the first of the Draconequi, long, lanky creatures with chimeric bodies warped by magic. Each grew more powerful than the last, and began to have magic that followed a specific trait, all tracing back to Creation magic, what had created them. The most powerful of all was the great and elegant Harmonia, one who was blessed with pure harmonic magic itself.

In her early days, she saw great potential for the world at large, seeing the intricate lines between all things, and growing to manipulate the strings of time, fate and matter to change the world around her. At this point in time, the Draconequi lived seldom lives, with groups of two or three warring with other groups. Harmonia saw such potential in her peers, and with her endless charisma and balancing nature, she was able to unite the Draconequi under one banner to build up from the ground up. Their efforts were wildly successful, and they developed their empire in the paradise that is now known as the Crystal Empire. There, the built wonders out of crystal, and their magic spread far and wide across the land. During this period in time, Harmonia fell in love with a handsome Draconequi named Arbiter, who gave her a single son, Regulus. This drew the attention of a group of foul, nightmareish creatures, the Changelings.

The Draconequi were defenseless when the first wave of attacks struck at their empire. The ravenous creatures drained their hosts entirely of their magic, and it was all Harmonia could do to erect a massive wall of magic to protect her people. However, she also lost her husband in the fight, and was left with their son. Far more powerful than their current incarnations, the Changelings destroyed everything in their path, able to drain from all emotions, not just love. Harmonia carved out a artifact that would save her people and continue to upkeep their magical barrier, the Crystal Heart. She and six others focused their magic into it, and the barrier remained for many years from that point. However, much of their empire was lost in the first assault; They would not be able to survive a second. While the current changeling queen hatched more drones, Harmonia found a new solution to her people's plight in the enigmatic Pony herds to the south.

With few choices, Harmonia enslaved the newly united ponies of Equestria, forcing them up north to fight and work for them. She saw them as primitive, small creatures who would have otherwise been food for predators, despite their technology. She would have done anything to protect her people, even if it meant subjugating an entire race. With the help of their slaves, their empire was saved, the Changelings defeated, and the ponies under their control. While the ponies thought they would be freed after the fight was done, instead the draconequus kept them instead, to act as servants in their palaces, slaves in the mines, and soldiers, all with the Draconequi lashing out as their masters. For hundreds of years, the ponies were beat into submission. Harmonia herself kept slaves, but it wasn't until the arrival of two foals at her doorstep that she began to see them as something intelligent.

She named the two orphans Luna, for her pale, night-like coat, and Celestia, for she reminded her of a celestial body. Their origins were unknown, but they were raised within the palace to cook, clean, and entertain the goddess's child, Regulus. The three became extremely close, almost like siblings, and in turn, Harmonia grew closer with the pair. She found their curiosity of her magic refreshing, and made the choice to teach the two magic of their own. She showed them how to manipulate magic, about how balance had to be kept between the sun and moon else they would perish, and even how to handle the most powerful and primitive magic of Creation. It wasn't long until the two were powerful sorcerers in their own right, and Harmonia even trusted them enough to bestow a portion of her own magic apon each, so that they could also be immortal goddesses and rule alongside her and her son.

Not long after receiving the magic, however, the two sisters led a resistance against their oppressors, now with the magic to counter their opponents. They used their strength against them, able to free the majority of the ponies and lead them away. Harmonia and Regulus, feeling as betrayed as ever, sought to chase after the ponies. Harmonia herself led the charge, but when it came to strike down the two culprits, she could not. They were as much her children as Regulus. She allowed them to flee with their lives, earning much of the disrespect of her peers, who had come to rely on the ponies. Many left to go live a solitary life once more, and without the bulk of their soldiers and slaves, the empire grew weak. The few ponies that remained were changed by the magic thrown about, becoming the Crystal Ponies.

Over time the attacks from the Changelings returning and the terrible economy brought despair, but Harmonia continued to power the heart, protecting the majority of their people. The final nail in the coffin came from the Crystal Heart being stolen. Nobody knew where it had gone, and seemingly had just vanished. Upon the discovery that it was from one of their own noblemen, Ochre, Harmonia blasted him apart, and its location was lost to the empire. Without their barrier to protect them, the monstrous Windego began to invade, and their beautiful homeland became a land of ice and cold. Many died of hunger and disease, and Harmonia made one last decision, urging for her people to abandon their homeland and move south. Few were left to listen, and she and her son left their homeland, never to return.

The mother and son fled south, finding a home in what is the modern day Everfree Forest within a cave. Harmonia had used much of her power in protecting their home, and was growing weaker. Regulus, not about to sit by and watch his parent fade, saw the ponies as the culprit for their issues, and began to terrorize their homes in the far west. There, he earned the name Discord, as he sowed chaos throughout the land. Harmonia could feel the tremors in the land. and when she went to investigate, she found her beloved son torturing the ponies of Equestria with magic. His form had become corrupted by the twisted usage of Creation magic, his shapes no longer his own, and his eyes bloodshot and horrible. Harmonia demanded that he stopped, leaving the ponies be, but something had snapped inside of him, and instead of focusing his wrath on the weak ponies, he and his mother had a massive brawl that shook the heavens.

Harmonia, already greatly weakened from before, was able to give a good fight for some time before she herself was defeated, and in an awesome display of power, Discord threw his mother back across the whole of the land, to crash back where she came from. Beaten and dying, Harmonia used the last of her magic to create a weapon that would stop her son, sending out a telepathic message to the Sisters. Only they, she believed, could wield her magic and stop her son. Casting a spell, Harmonia spread her wings, and her body became the Tree of Harmony, while her spirit empowered each of the six Stones of Harmony. The sisters did receive her message, and used the stones to stop Discord, turning his body to stone and sending his spirit to the Ether for a thousand years.

When Celestia used her magic to send Luna to the moon as Nightmare Moon, Harmonia was so heartbroken that she severed the tie with her magic and Celestia. Neither sister would be allowed to wield the magic ever again. When the Mane Six were able to use her magic to purify Luna, she continued to let them use her power, as they had the power, she sensed, to truly put her son at rest. After he was reformed and her tree was saved by the return of her magic, Harmonia began to regenerate her body. While in the Mane Six's current lifetime, she will never be whole enough to see them, she prays for the day that she will get to see her son and granddaughter.

TLR - Draconequus were mutated animals once who built the Crystal Empire that eventually fell to the Changelings and Windegos after enslaving ponies, then Discord went cray.

NOTES:
- There are several generations of Draconequus, despite their small numbers. First generation were those that were born various different animals and then physically changed via magic. The next generations are trueborn Draconequi, like Discord, born from two immortal draconequus parents. The third is the halfborn Draconequi, any who are descended from a draconequus.

- When a pair of Draconequi have children together, they sacrifice a portion of their own power in order to create the child. When a draconequi has a child with another species, such as a pony, the parent must do the same, but it will be carried by the mother.

- Draconequus are very rare and very powerful anymore. As of the time of Everfree's birth, only four remain, Discord, Harmonia, Everfree, and an unknown other, who is believed to preside somewhere in the far west.

- Discord has been the only one capable of surviving usage of corrupted creation magic, but has been irreversibly changed as a result.

- Draconequus have catlike behaviors, such as purring, roaring, sharpening their claws, pouncing, and long naps. Some scholars have believed that dragons are descended from draconequi, however this is false, as they are closer related to chimeras.

- When Discord was born, an oracle gave the following prophecy to Harmonia and Arbiter: "He will not be the last." While Harmonia did everything she could to protect her people, she could NOT let Discord die.

- Calling Discord Regulus is a sure way to get him to cry real tears.
