Description Finally the bell rings for lunch so I head to my locker and grab my lunch bag and put my books away. "Hey Katrina wait up!" Mike yells and as I turn I freeze in place. Directly behind Mike around the corner I see what can fear filled ones and it laughs at me before speaking "So we finally meet White Guardian.." It laughs again at my only blank confused stare. "So you haven't been told, no matter, know this Guardian he comes the night of the full blue moon. With numbers far greater than your own. You don't stand a chance." With that it vanishes into thin air it's cool laughter trailing behind. I look around frantically, on alert for any lingering affects. Yet it seems as if nobody else had seen or heard it.
By this time Mike was next to me and I assume has been for a few minutes. "Hello earth to Kat. It's your home planet calling." Mike says fairly loudly in my ear. I manage a nod but can't seem to stop staring at the spot where the dark mass had been lost in my own thoughts. I'd I thought there could only be a blue moon or a full moon what did he mean full blue moon? Then what did it mean when it said "White Guardian?" I can only imagine he meant my powers as a witch. Then with a gasp I remember how last night when all my power had build up and had me glowing bright white. Is that what he meant?  I still don't understand what me glowing has to do with anything. I finally look to Mike but can't find any words. All I know is that I need to get home and talk to Kate and fast. "Hey Kat you ok?" Mike asks and gives me a worried look. I allow him to take my bag and set it down. Then puts a hand to my forehead checking to see if I'm ill. "Kat you look really pale do you want to go to the nurse and lay down?" I slowly shake my head no. " I'm sorry Mike but I have to go." Without waiting for a response I grap my bag and run as fast as I can out the doors heading home.
"Hey Kat, Wait, Stop!" I hear Mike chasing after me but I can't make myself stop running. Yet no sooner had I hit the main road do I sense him right behind me. He's not the quarter back for no reason. Suddenly I feel his arms grip my waist and tackle me to the ground. "Sorry Kat but I'm not an idiot and I know when something up and your not telling me. I want to help you so you had better spill." He gets up off me and helps me up. I take a moment to get the air back in my lungs. "Ok look your right something is up. It was standing right behind you for God's sake. Don't tell me you didn't feel it?" "Um Kat did you hit your head or something when I tackled you?" He asks with a smirk but the concern in his eyes is genuine. Sighing I pick up my fallen lunch bag then spend a few moments examining it before I turn back to him and meet his blue green eyes.
"I'm sorry Mike for running off like I did." He opens his mouth to reply but I hold up a hand and continue, "I can't explain what happened back there. I can say though that it's nothing you need to worry about. I can handle it and this is something you can't help me with. I do have to go though. It's very important. I'll still be back tonight at 7 for auditions." I manage a weak smile to try to convince him as much as myself that all is well. "Well alright. Can I at least walk you home?" "Yeah sure."  For a few moments it's too awkward between us and we both try to ignore it by gazing at the scenery.
Mike breaks the silence first. "So are you going to come to the homecoming game this Friday night?" "Yeah of course. Have I missed a game yet?" I smile genuinely this time. "Okay well after the game there's going to be a party at Dustin Sobers place. His parents will be out of town for the weekend. Want to go with me?" I'm a bit surprised by the question. I knew about the party it was a hot topic at school but hadn't even considered actually going let alone with Mike. Still it did sound like fun. By this time we were standing outside the door to the home. "If you get a note from your mom saying it's ok and that I'll be with you at your place then I can go." "Oh yeah." He manages sheepishly. " I forgot you have to get special permission to leave here. Hey why can't you just come and stay with me and my folks. You know my parents adore you for reasons I can't begin to fathom." At that I give his shoulder a good punch. It doesn't even faze him. "You know I would but…" I let my words trail off. We've been through this before when my mother was first admitted into the hospital. I just can't make myself impose on his life that way. "I have to go now. I'll text you later Kay?" With that I turn to walk in but just as my right hand grips the doorknob he grabs my left and pulls me to him. "Kat?" he says against my hair. "Just remember that there's nothing I wouldn't do for you." I try to pull away but he just adjusts so that he's still holing me but I'm looking up at him.
"Umm thanks Mike, I would do the same for you" I reply. I can actually feel the blood rushing to my cheeks as he stares into my eyes. Feeling really uncomfortable now try to pull away again. He reluctantly releases his grip on me but not before he kisses me on the cheek again and the butterflies in my stomach get even worse. "Go get'em baby" he whispers in my ear. Then the next thing I know I'm staring at the spot where he had just been. "Mike?" I ask aloud looking for him. "Come on Kat, Focus got talk to Kate" I hear Mike's voice whisper in my ear. Rather than sit around and wonder why I'm hearing things I listen to the random voice and run inside without bothering to check in. I burst into my room frantically searching for Kate too agitated to notice that she's sitting in the only chair in the damn room. "Kate!" I exclaim and rush up to her. Completely forgetting that I have to try to be calm and cool in order to tell my story. "Kate I need your help! There was this thing at school only it wasn't a thing it was a large black mass. And he laughed at me! And not like in the ha ha funny way but more like the Mu ha ha evil way. Then he was talking about the white guardian like I'm supposed to even know what the hell that is and he says we only have until the full blue moon. Is that even possible? I mean I thought there could only be a full moon or a separate blue moon? Mind you during all this the entire hallway seems frozen and not like ice frozen like it's just me and this thing. Nobody even heard him and it felt like we had a full on conversation. Well it really wasn't a conversation as much as me standing there and it talking. What?" Kate was standing there looking like she wasn't sure if she was trying to suppress a laugh or if she wanted to hit me.
Finally she takes a deep breath to steady herself. "Okay Kat let's try this from the top. Without you adlibbing tell me exactly what happened." With that she crosses her arms over her blue button up jacket from her army days. So following her example I breath in deep more to calm my already jittery nerves. Then I retell what happened in the halls of school. To my own credentials I only sped up a few times and got off topic twice but with a stern look from Kate I was back on track.
