Description I like the Star Wars universe. But working on films myself sometimes, I have some issues with some of the props. Many of their weapons are actual real weapons (or copies of such), which, in my opinion, doesn't always fit well into this universe. Weapons equipped with ammunition magazines look odd on an energy weapon. And a power-pack of such a weapon wouldn't protude from the side, heavily unbalancing the whole thing. So my take on this one is a power-pack fitting the size of the weapon and attached on the underside of the barrel assembly. Air intakes on both sides allow cooling as well as taking in air to be ionized (= transformed to plasma) and its atomar particles guided via high voltage fields through the 2 barrels...
We do not have this tech yet... well, actually we do. Old-fashioned TVs (before flatscreens) used electron beams shot at the inner surface of the picture tube to create images. Electrons have virtually no mass, so the damage they can do is limited. But whole atoms taken from the atmosphere have mass...
Enough of the physics... This one is based on the skeleton of a broken toy gun (nerf), though there's not much left of that. The shell is heat-shaped from some discarded shower splash-back, some parts are plumbing supplies, but I made most bits from scrap plastics, according to the limitations of my back-yard-workshop. There were no grip plates and no way to mount some, so I made this also myself.
The scope is a bit silly on a sidearm in the first place, but pops up on many Star Wars weapons. It does look cool, so I got a 20$ air rifle scope and weathered it accordingly.
The whole thing is airbrushed, some 25 layers of 5 different types of paint in some 6 different colors...
Just saying, I might do commissions, but a thing like this eats a lot of materials despite using scraps, and its way over 100 hours of work. Take that into account, as this will be a rather costly piece!
