Thank you for this, working zoomed out, I’ll try that.

One layer? Not confident enough for that.

Do you merge overlay layers? I find they don't merge well.

Seems colors change when I merge overlays.

Really appreciate how you explain your process, mines a mess.

Thank you again,

Thank you very much! I'm so glad you found it helpful!!

Ah for overlay and other adjustment layers, if you want to merge them right you will need to "merge all visible layers." So since you are working on multiple layers you will just turn off the layers you don't want the overlay to merge onto. For multiple layers you may need to do this for each area you want to color, which is why one layer is a bit easier haha

Try out one layer even if you don't show it to anyone, it is very different but fun! Instead of erasing, you paint back and forth I was really nervous about trying it out at first as well, but I love it now!
And you can also use the lasso tool around areas you don't want to paint over. So sometimes I will lasso a character, then click ctrl+shift+I to invert the selection, then work on the background.

Every time I see these tutorials I'm like, "That doesn't look too hard.  Yeah, I can do this, I can sooo do this!" C:
Twenty minutes later.
"Mother of God, what have I done..." :C

Your videos in particular make it look deceptively easy. xD

Hahaha that's how I always feel! It doesn't help that I can't even remember what I'm doing half the time. Sometimes I watch the videos and go "when did I do that? I don't remember that ? HOW DID I DO THAT?!?!?"
..... So I just tried to stick with the tips I remind myself of before going into zombie mode
