Description I don't usually do a lot of mixed media, but I needed a distraction the other day and just started putting stuff together. Using wet media on the newsprint proved to be a challenge, but still interesting.

Watercolor, ink, acrylic, and paper on Strathmore 300 series Mixed Media paper.

I always appreciate a beautifully made mixed media artwork and you've done an amazing job with this one! The bold black outlines on the flower and vase make it attention-grabbing and really more interesting with the details on the flower and the white paper in the background.

Oh wow, now that this is done it looks great!! I like the use of the pen to showcase not only detail, but also shadow in the center of the flower!!

Next time, if you wanted to try and mix the media a bit more, Maybe place the off bits (where you used acrylic) more so on the focus of the piece. Β As the piece stands, my eyes are drawn to the center of the flower, which is good! But because of this I don't notice the acrylic quite as much. Β On top of this, adding more acrylic to the focus helps to showcase more of your ability with the medium, where as in this case, we just see the tips of a few petals, and can also help you practice! Β

Sorry for my Rambling Β  x Β x Β  But really, good work, Indigo!

Thanks, I'm glad you like it!
I do see what you mean, but painting only the corners with acrylic was intentional, because I didn't want it to get in the way of the ink. Also, I kind of liked the idea that the window panes gave the flower another "dimension", in a way. If that makes any sense. Thanks for the tips, though, I'll keep them in mind!

ah i understand that! and you're right, I do enjoy the concept, and it looks nice, but it would have been interesting to see more of the other dimension. Β
just something to think about for future works, but again, I really REALLY like how this turned out. Β
