Tadon to Chikuwa たどんとちくわ is a 1998 art house style film directed by Jun Ichikawa 市川準, in which Sanada Hiroyuki plays Asami, a professional writer in the midst of a nervous breakdown. There's so much to say about this film, from the style of the shooting, to the sets and acting that I don't even know where to start. I say that it's an art house film because it's just one of those films that you have to immerse yourself in, and don't worry about figuring it out until you've watched it two or three times. Is the action all in Asami's head? Is it part of the book he's writing? There are no answers, only more questions. Still highly entertaining, and viscerally disturbing in several parts... Did he actually kill all those people? What was going on in his head? Fascinating film and incredibly well acted.
