Description The Parallel Worlds

Nature's mirrors suddenly collapse into plausible feasts of wonder, as question marks arrive behind our heads. Life expectancy has been increased beyond our limits, haunting us with the chance to waste The Time and reflect on life itself, spending vital cell energy with the enigmas of reflecting about reflexions.

Note: I find it fascinating to discover the multitude of ways one can approach a photography. As you might imagine, the original photo is a 4:3 ratio one, with lots of available sky and river. My main concern here was to put the fisher on the left third of the photo, so I got an image which I could use in panoramic, portrait or simple landscape mode. I could also choose to leave more sky, leave more of the river, or even cut a bit on the right. Sometimes I almost burn my neurons trying to see which one I like the best, specially when the heart likes a lot of versions. Then, as if it wasn't enough, while I was trying to get a gold cast for this image, I accidentally opened the grad filter menu, and suddenly I saw this orange sky, and imediatly thought "whoooa, I like this... a bit far from real light, but I like this". So there I was with one more tough decision - "leave the grad filter or not?". Well, you already know... I kept it. In the near future I'll probably post one or two more versions of this photo, but it is always amazing how cropping or editing a photo can change its underlying feelings and emotions.

the deck reflection needs a little rendering and blur... but this is great

Rendering? This is a photo, it's not digital art.

Really? The dock thing looks WAY too squared off to be natural. Where's the wave motion? With a sky like that there has to be wind currents.

I'm not bashing though, I love your pics, just offering constructive criticism...

No problem.

The place where the fisherman is standing is part of a man-built barrage (I don't know if this is the correct term, I'm referring to a construction which stops the flow of a river). As so, the water tends to be extremely calm in that area, as there's no river flow. Besides that, even tough the sky was very cloudy, I can guarantee you that there was almost no wind.

Oh yeah lol now that I look a little closer it's made of concrete or something. Anyway thanks for actually replying (most popular people don't as you know )

Muitissimo obrigado. Adoro alvor.

The only thing that really caught my eye this time was the man standing on the left. Made me look twice, which is what you want ultimately, isn’t it? Without him though I don’t think the shot would be that great.

Inebriantia In reply to nightmare-orchestra [2006-05-04 01:05:59 +0000 UTC]

It's a nice shot but I do agree that it's a bit overprocessed, for example, the buildings reflection on the middleish-right of the photo...
I think it could still be a great shot without quite so much post-processing work.
Just my opinion.
