The Past: Originally, the Strange family lived in Fuchsia City, and Sam's father worked on the technical details of the original Safari Zone. At the ripe old age of 10, Sam decided she wanted to be a Pokemon Trainer, like most children of the time. Though they were concerned about their daughter's safety in the wilds of Kanto, her parents eventually gave in. Her mother escorted her to Pallet Town to pick up her first pokemon, a pikachu. Originally, the good Professor Oak wanted her to have an eevee, but the impatient young girl had come before it was brought there (computer storage and transfer hadn't been perfected). The young Sam was so inventive and named her new friend Sparky. Not long after the pair set out on their journey, they met a young man who gave her a charmander; he said that he didn't want it. This new friend was named Zuko, and evolved into Sam's personal fighter jet. Together, they ventured around the Kanto region and challenged the Indigo Plateau. Ever since, Sam has caught an unfathomable amount of pokemon, challenged and defeated the gyms in all regions, and has become a respectable breeder and berry-grower. Rumors say that she is training to take on Red. While Sam was on her journey through Kanto, her mother got a job at the Blackthorn Gym. Her father had also been laid off at the Safari Zone, when it moved, and is now studying Porygon, and its evolutions, in Goldenrod City.

The present: Sam has moved her residence to Blackthorn City, where she breeds pokemon, grows a variety of berries, and sells them to the city-folk and passing trainers. Sparky passed away when Sam was 15, Sam has bred and trained other pikachu; the breeding began after she buried her first friend. The current battler that Sam has in the wings is Tesla, a surfing pikachu that can also harness the power of Dragon.

Personality: Sam is a seasoned trainer, and so she takes battles very seriously. Outside of battle, she can be a spaz; there has been more than one incident where she tripped on her own feet and dropped a crate of berries on her way to the market. She is willing to take younger trainers under her wing, and will more than likely hand them an egg after her lecture. She is intolerant of cruelty to pokemon, and will strike back without provocation if she comes across it.

Likes: KFF (Kanto Fried Farfetch'd), training and breeding Pokemon, growing berries, making poffins, money, good battles

Dislikes: Team (insert name here) associates, losing, easy wins, when poffins turn out foul, cruelty to pokemon

Reasons for joining IPL: It's been pretty boring and stagnant around her home. She needs a challenge (plus, Lazuli needs to get some exercise), and she's heard of this Challenger Island that promises to be a trainer's paradise.

(Yes, she is technically my Trainer persona. You may roll your eyes now)

THE ALL IMPORTANT POKEMAAAAANSSSS!!!!

Kaden - Arcanine (male)
Ability: Flash Fire (he can take fire attacks and use them to power up his own fire type moves)
Nature: Jolly
Item: Life orb (worn as a collar)
Attacks: Flare Blitz/Extremespeed/Close Combat/Morning Sun
Kaden is Sam's happy puppy/ guard dog. He is incredibly loyal and dependable, and will never give up a fight. He hits hard and fast, not wanting to draw out a battle for too long. If things look rough, (haha, puns) he uses Morning Sun to keep himself in fighting form.
(Note: Arcanine learns learns Close Combat through breeding in the new Black/White games)
(PS: Close Combat and Morning Sun are legit in a moveset together because Arcanine can breed with Smeargle)

Blink - Abra (female)
Ability: Synchronize
Nature: Rash
Item: Light Clay (holds it in hand, plays with it like putty)
Attacks: Light Screen/Reflect/Psychic/Signal Beam
Being the baby of the team, Blink yearns to prove herself in battle. Kaden is her best buddy, and she loves going into double battles with him. To her chagrin, Sam likes to use her for support. She is adept at using screens to shield her comrades from harm. Her trainer says that it's a good exercise for her powers. All Blink wants to do is incapacitate her opponent as quickly as possible with Psychic.

Thantos - Sceptile (male)
Ability: Overgrow
Nature: Hasty
Item: Focus Sash (worn like a scarf)
Attacks: Energy Ball/Focus Blast/Dragon Pulse/Hidden Power (fire)
A headstrong and overzealous raptor, Thantos will never back down from a challenge. He is able to cover a wide variety of types with his moves, and is often paired with Antiquity in double battles. He gets a little carried away in battles, and may continue to attack a fainted opponent. Out of battle, he acts like a happy puppy; he wags his large tail and is always sniffing pockets for a poffin or two.

Antiquity - Bastiodon (female)
Ability: Sturdy
Nature: Hardy
Item: Metal Coat (rubbed onto face plate)
Attacks: Metal Burst/Metal Sound/Screech/Protect
One word: Tank. Antiquity is there to take the hits in double battles. She has no offensive attacks, aside from turning her opponents attacks back with Metal Burst. Excellent defenses and endurance let her provide full team support. Otherwise, she is a lazy, stubborn bugger and won't move at all.

Senri - Ursaring (male)
Ability: Guts
Nature: Brave
Item: Flame Orb (on eyepatch)
Attacks:Facade/Close Combat/Ice Punch/Shadow Claw
Senri is a gentle giant. He tends to zone out, but is a vicious contender in battle. He likes small and cute PKMN and doesn't like fighting them. What he lacks in speed, he more than makes up for in raw power. Senri's defences may be nearly nonexistent, but his endurance is shocking to most opponents.

Lazuli - Lapras (male)
Ability: Water Absorb
Nature: Naughty
Item: Razor Fang (a whole mouth full of them)
Attacks: Dragon Dance/Outrage/Ice Shard/Thunder
Lazuli doesn't care who his opponent is, and he doesn't give two sh*ts about type advantages. Give him the chance, and he will tear the crap out of anything and anyone. He revels in rage of battle, and that is where he feels most at home. His favorite thing to do in battle is to wipe everything out with Thunder. More often than not, Sam has to Force Return him to his pokeball before he causes permanent damage.
