first gorgeous picture! second: I applaud your bravery I would not on my life EVER get that close to a rattle snake, unless at a show or zoo...

Thank you!  My first job was wrangling rattlesnakes so I am pretty comfortable being around them. I don't recommend it without training, though!

Great shot. If you want critiques, the only thing I can say is that it the eyes are just slightly out of focus.

I'm a big crote fan and always enjoy shots of them from other people. Thanks for sharing.

He was moving his head around loads so I was lucky to get it in focus at all.

I love crotes! The area where I found this one is right in the breeding range of a huge female, so every year I go back to find the babies.

Nice. Yeah, I have a few densites out here (Northern California) for Crotalus oreganus that I visit every few weeks to keep tabs on them.

I'm going to Arizona next month for 8 days just for crotes, so I'll have quite a few pictures to post in a month or so.

I'm away from my normal stalking grounds for school (and am now near LA, where there are more sidewalks than sidewinders), and I miss them so!

For sure. I love winders.

I have a few decent spots within LA proper for helleri and stuff. I should be making it down there a few times to herp this year.

I want to hug him, but that might be in poor taste...

For me, not the snake.

Hehehe... this baby was sooooooo cute.
I wanted to squeeze him.

It would not have ended well.
