Tommies
reminants of the British army, who after the bombs dropped, lost their communication network. As a result they divided into localised militas who quickly assimilated other gangs due to their military equipment and training. Though this they set up small localised communities in the aftermath who survived at first by pillaging and taking whatever food they could. This would cause inter tribal conflict between the Tommy millitas, who fought for food and resources in the wasteland. Once the long winter ended and conditions allowed for agriculture to be developed, the Tommy millitas started to reunite under the organisation of the Sheriff's and work together to restore order to a post apocalyptic Britain. At this current state, the Tommy millitas are the security forces of the counties, small territories controlled by landholding sherrifs who use the millitas to enforce their feudal tax system. The Counties, like feudal lords of the middle ages are all at odds with each other over control of the British isles. In recent years the power of the Tommy millitas is starting to decline as their stocks of pre war ammunition and tech start to dwindle. In many places they haven't the resources to suppress the many opposing Tribals who had before been wiped out or suppressed by their military and technological edge. Many within the ranks of the Tommy millitas have been issued old bolt action rifles functioning off of crude black powder made off the farms. Unlike their pre war automatic counterparts these rifles jam up regularly. This has given other, Melee orientated gangs the edge against the Tommy militias. Some sherrifs have even sort the help of more melee oriented Mercenaries, to protect their interests. The Tommy millitas have to adapt to a world reverting to close quarters combat in order to become a force to be reckoned with again in the isles.

A post apocalyptic world set in the reminants of 80s British society.

What I have drawn here is the reminants of the British army, known as Tommies, like how they were nicknamed in the 1st great war. The post apocalyptic Tommy, is armed with a FN FAL battle rifle, (which, due to the shortage of smokeless powder, has to be cycled manually like a bolt gun). As a result he relies heavily on his bayonet and is prepared for melee combat, salvaging old tyres and Cricket pads for protection against the deadly blows of his enemies. For this his MK IV steel army helmet comes in handy. He also is dressed in pre war camouflaged DPM fatigues which became the standard for the British army in the early 80s. He also wears the old pre war flak vest used by the British army in the 60s 70s and 80s. His kit remains very similar to his pre war counterpart only that it is dirty torn and stained by years of rugged survival
